Joyce has many years experience as a licensed educational psychologist and as a marriage and family therapist.
As a licensed educational psychologist, she performs psychoeducational assessments with preschool, elementary, middle school and high school students as well as with young adults, evaluating academic ability (developmental levels, cognitive ability, achievement, learning patterns), personality factors (social emotional and behavioral functioning), and special needs. She also provides consultation and support to parents and families on issues related to special education.
As both an educational psychologist and a marriage and family therapist, Joyce provides counseling for children, adolescents, and adults as individuals, families, and groups. She has provided support groups for parents of children with disabilities, grief support groups, social skills groups, and has taught parenting classes and seminars on group therapy and child counseling. She helped develop a manual on crisis counseling. She consults with parents and other professionals on issues of social development, behavior, and academic difficulties and on dealing with family members with disabilities, including those on the autistic spectrum and those with aspergers disorder. In her practice, Joyce enjoys working with a wide range of therapeutic issues and assisting clients through their difficulties on life’s journey whether they are personal challenges or interpersonal struggles.
